FAKING IT
‘Gabrielle Tozer nails it with Faking It – it’s fun, sassy, endearing, and an accurate account of magazine life with a hilarious twist.”
Lucy Cousins, DOLLY and CLEO
OVERVIEW
In the sequel to her debut novel The Intern, journalist Gabrielle Tozer takes another cheeky look at the behind-the-scenes antics of the glossy fashion magazine industry. With the glamorous Sash magazine now defunct, former intern Josie Browning has landed a job as a junior writer for website indi.
Handling the pressure to plan the perfect website launch would be challenging for anyone. But when you’re already dealing with flatmates and frenemies, you definitely don’t stand a chance. Will Josie be able to fake it till she makes it? Or will a misunderstanding at a media junket ruin her reputation, love life and career forever?
Tozer’s fresh, funny and relatable voice has won over fans worldwide. Since its Australian release in February 2014, The Intern has been published in both the U.S and Germany (where the title translates to My Infernally Glamorous Internship).
PRAISE FOR FAKING IT
“Entering adulthood is tough and Tozer nails the feelings of fraud, phoniness and faking it. Two books in and Josie Browning is still the awkward hero you can’t not root for. You’ll laugh, you’ll squirm, you’ll thank god 18 didn’t last forever.” Mel Evans, Sunday Style
‘Faking It presents teens with a main character who is smart, loveable, hilarious and discovering life (and love) on her own terms. This is all wrapped up with gorgeous writing. What a gift this is for girls of all ages – I devoured it in one giggle-fuelled sitting!’ Dannielle Miller, co-author of Loveability and CEO of Enlighten Education
“PERFECTION. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. [Tozer] has done it again. ANYWAY, this was absolutely fabulous. I laughed and I cried and I cringed.” Emily Mead, Aussie Owned And Read

SYNOPSIS
Josie Browning dreams of having it all. A stellar academic record, an amazing journalism career – and for her current crush to realise she actually exists. The only problem? Josie can’t get through twenty-four hours without embarrassing her sister Kat or her best friend Angel, let alone herself.
Josie’s luck changes though when she lands an internship at the glossy fashion magazine Sash. A coveted columnist job is up for grabs, but Josie’s got some tough competition in the form of two other interns. Battle lines are drawn and Josie quickly learns that the magazine industry is far from easy, especially under the reign of powerful editor, Rae Swanson.
From the lows of coffee-fetching and working 10-hour days, to the highs of mingling with celebrities, scoring endless free beauty products (plus falling for her cousin’s seriously gorgeous flatmate James) this is one year Josie will never forget.
Totally fresh and funny, this debut novel from industry insider Gabrielle Tozer reveals just what is behind the seeming glamour and sparkle of the magazine industry.
PRAISE FOR THE INTERN
“The gloss, the glamour… the treachery! Tozer nails the bittersweet world of women’s magazines in this sassy coming-of-age story.” Jessica Parry, Cosmopolitan deputy editor
“I loved this fun, cheeky read, as well as the genuine heart at its core. I refused to put it down.” Lauren Smelcher Sams, Cosmopolitan associate editor and former Girlfriend deputy editor
“I was totally hooked within the first few pages … I’d call it a YA version of The Devil Wears Prada but I’d be doing The Intern a disservice.” Tiffany Dunk, former DOLLY editor
‘It is an upbeat tale with a loveable heroine who is both physically clumsy and academically clever, which sets it apart from the usual teen fantasy fare.’ Kerryn Goldsworthy, Sydney Morning Herald
‘Funny and entertaining with an element of real-life challenges and issues, The Intern is smart chick-lit for mid-teens and older.’
Susan Whelan, Kids’ Book Review
The Intern is a page turner that left me wanting more of Tozer’s work.’
JJ McConnachie, NZ Booklovers
