[author life] the day I wanted to hug my courier aka advance copies day

dfToday shall officially go down as The Day I Wanted To Hug My Courier.

I don’t know her name, her age or her interests outside being a courier, but I do know that:

– This lovely lady was there for one of the best moments of my life – being handed a box filled with books that I wrote (they have my name on them and everything, you guys!).

– I wanted to eat all the chocolate in all the land to celebrate with her, but sadly she needed to continue on her way.

– I repressed the urge to squeeze her tight (and stroke her hair lovingly) as a thank you for delivering my book-babies safely to me.

I will never forget 12.03pm today (you only receive advance copies of your debut novel once, after all) and I will never forget my courier.

Thanks again to everyone for the support. February 1, 2014 is now only a few sleeps away… let the countdown begin!

PS: This is such a weird feeling and I’m not sure whether to cheer, laugh, cry or something in between. So I’m going to settle for hiding in my apartment with the books scattered over the coffee table and watching Suits while eating a ham’n’cheese toastie. Rock star life, I know.

PPS: You can add THE INTERN on Goodreads here and talk about it with me on Facebook and Twitter. Please do. I’m on deadline but I really, really like procrastinating.
